History
In October 1994, Smits Machinefabriek en Scheepsreparatie B.V. set up a machine construction plant and shipyard in Krimpen aan de Lek. In these ten years, Smits has delivered some sixty new ships at this location.

Early 2004, Smits started production at its larger IJsselwerf Shipyard in Capelle aan den IJssel strategically situated downstream from the Van Brienenoord Bridge. IJsselwerf Shipyard dimensions allow finishing and repair activities on small seagoing vessels.

With its sophisticated manufacturing process Smits Machinefabriek en Scheepsreparatie B.V. is confident of continued growth in the coming years, whereby it will focus on inland shipping vessels.
